Silver-Age volunteers are helping Volgograd children become A-students

In January, a project "Back to A and B" (Opiat' chetyre i pyat') was put in action in Volgograd, which is all about intergenerational cooperation. Within its frame, silver-age volunteers are helping children from large families learn and revise difficult topics from various school subjects. In 2020, this project won the All-Russian Grant Competition "Young at Heart".

A concert in memory of the Battle of Stalingrad and the Siege of Leningrad was recorded in Ostrava

The two civic association that are taking a most active part in the development of the relations between Volgograd and its Czech twin-city Ostrava are the "Ostrava Russian House" and the "Czech-Russian Society". Their founders – the married couple Dr. Karel Šestak and Tamara Galynina, who was in Stalingrad when the Great Patriotic War began in 1942. In the February of 2021, their members recorded an online-concert on the occasion of two important anniversaries – 78 years after the defeat of the Nazi troops by the Soviet Army in the Battle of Stalingrad and 77 years after the full liberation of Leningrad.

An exhibition of children drawings from Volgograd’s Chinese twin-cities has opened in the Gorky Library

Since the beginning of February, Volgograd Regional Library named after Maxim Gorky is celebrating the birth of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin. In this, it is aided by Volgograd Regional Children Art Gallery and not one but two Chinese cities: Chengdu (Sichuan province) and Qujing (Yunnan province), both of them being Volgograd's twin-cities.
