Volgograd school pupils were awarded prizes in the drawing competition in Chemnitz
In September of 2020, the City of Chemnitz, one of the two Volgograd’s partner-cities in Germany, organized their first international children drawing competition dedicated to the European Mobility Week. Five honorary prizes of this contest, which eventually united five countries, went to Volgograd participants!
The mascots of the competition were a cartoonish boy and a girl, who went on a backpacking tour to see their friends from abroad. “Edgar and Edda are going to the twin-cities! Show them your city!” went the slogan. Following its call, the contest participants aged 4-15 were asked to draw what their cities would look like in the nearest future, when they the fully new and eco-friendly means of transport are invented.
The paintings by Volgograd pupils were received favorably by the competent jury: “The drawings were so good that we could not believe the age of participants. And their means of sustainable transportation were very creative”, underscored the organizers.
For each of the prize-winners, the jury prepared a souvenir and a postcard with a personal message written in Russian. The gifts were sent to the participants by regular post.
