Diplomat’s Day was celebrated in Volgograd

On February 10, 2026, a thematic session dedicated to the Diplomat's Day – a relatively new festive occasion in the Russian Federation – was held at the Center of People's Diplomacy of Volgograd State Socio-Pedagogical University (CPD VSSPU). It was on February 10, 1549, that Ivan the Terrible's Ambassadorial Office, the earliest prototype of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was first mentioned in chronicles. Since then, this day in Russian history has been considered the starting point for the development of diplomacy as a separate state institution!
