The Young Historian's II International School started in Volgograd

For more than 10 years, this school has been held on the platform of Volgograd State Social and Pedagogical University (VSSPU), and the second year it also has the status of an international one. This time, 7 cities of Russia, scientists and young researchers from Turkmenistan and the Republic of Belarus, as well as foreign students of Volgograd universities from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Vietnam, China, Haiti, Nigeria, Kenya, Mauritania, Eswatini, Mali, Egypt and the other states. In total, there were more than 150 people!

The work of the School was organized with support of the VSSPU Center for People's Diplomacy, established in December 2021 under the agreement signed by the university and the administration of Volgograd. And among the university's partners, there were Volgograd administration, the "Stalingrad Battle" museum-reserve, the Volgograd regional branch of the Russian Historical Society and the Volgograd regional branch of the "Znaniye" Russian society.

The School's opening ceremony was attended by Pavel Shevtsov, Deputy Head of the "Rossotrudnichestvo" Federal Agency, officials of the Volgograd Region and Volgograd administration. Among the scholars who joined their colleagues via videoconferencing was a Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences from Volgograd's Belarusian partner-city: Sergey Nikolaenko, a professor of Masherov Vitebsk State University.

The School's first panel session dwelled on the preservation of historical memory and the meaning of the Battle of Stalingrad for the world history. The main speakers represented Volgograd, Orekhovo-Zuevo and Vitebsk.

After their lectures, the School continued with the work of thematic platforms.

Margarita Belitskaya, head of the VSSPU Center for People's Diplomacy, and her student Angelina Valueva held for foreign students a lesson about "Stalingrad on the world map". The attendants learned about the cities and countries that had named their streets and squares after Stalingrad, made presentations and recited poems about the legendary battle on the Volga.

At the discussion platform called "The Great Patriotic War and the Battle of Stalingrad in the Memory of Today's Youth", the Russian and foreign students presented their reports on the contribution that different nations made to the victory in the Battle of Stalingrad and the struggle for peace during the Second World War.

On the second day of the School, its participants and students will talk about the studies and preservation of historical and cultural heritage.
