Folk traditions in Volgograd

Does your family have any traditions linked to the Russian national customs? Our next participant's family surely does, and loves them dearly! Eva Kochergina, the 6th grade student of Gymnasium No. 3 will tell us how relatives and herself celebrate Easter.

FOLK TRADITIONS IN VOLGOGRAD

"Good traditions, like springs, strengthen and animate the family."
(Leo Tolstoy)

Hello! My name is Eva and I'm 12 years old (I'm on the right in the photo). Me and my family would like to present to you our favorite tradition.

Family traditions are the manners and customs accepted in the family, which are passed down from generation to generation. Most likely, our parents grew up in the same traditions, and we will take them into our future, and this will be accepted in our house. Such moments remain forever in your memory, and each time you are already waiting for a new moment.

HOLY LIGHT EASTER!

For our Orthodox family, the Easter holiday is very important. I have loved it since early childhood, light, kindness and warmth emanate from it. On this day, the whole family gathers at Grandma's and sits down at the festive table.

There are always a lot of treats at Easter, but 3 dishes are required: kulichi, eggs and pancakes. All these goodies are prepared in advance! Granny, mom and my godmother bake cakes, my brother and I decorate them with icing and sprinkling.

At night we go to the Easter service in the temple, after which kulichi, eggs and treats are consecrated. Mom says that in her childhood they also went with my great-grandmother!

Traditions of great holidays strengthen the family, unite every member of the family. I also want to pass on this tradition when I grow up to my children, so that the family has common interests and moments to be together!

Thank you for your attention!
