Chengdu and Volgograd: Nostalgia Tourist. Wuhou Temple
This September, Volgograd and Chengdu students have prepared a whole series of colorful and informative videos about the iconic statues, buildings and little-known sites of Volgograd and Chengdu. Today on air is Bai Yaxuan from Chengdu. She will reveal to us the splendor and majesty of Wuhou Temple.
Tell us a little bit about yourself, please.
– I am Bai Yaxuan and a student in the class of 2024. I come from class 1 of Yucai School Attached to Chengdu No.7 Middle School. I like art, such as piano, ballet and oil painting, because it cultivates my artistic temperament. I am also fond of sports, such as table tennis, badminton and swimming, as it makes me energetic. I am a little guide at Chengdu Wuhou Shrine Museum. I am hopeful that I could spread Chinese culture to those who love China.
Why did you choose this particular spot for the video?
– China has a long history, and the Three Kingdoms period is a short but particularly exciting part of it. Chengdu was the capital of the Shu-Han Kingdom (221–263). The Wuhou Shrine in Chengdu is a memorial site for the rulers and officials of the Shu-Han Kingdom. I hope that by introducing Wuhou Shrine, more people will learn about Chinese culture.
If you found yourself in Volgograd for a whole day, what would you like to see and do?
– I would walk along the Alley of Heroes at Lenin Avenue, visit and admire the statue of Lenin in Lenin Square. I would visit the famous Panorama Museum of the Battle of Stalingrad to experience the world-shaking battle scenes through panoramic paintings. Then I would go to Mamayev Kurgan to see the statues of the heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad and the reliefs of the battle, and listen to the live recordings of the battle to experience the bravery of the Soviet Red Army!
