Culture, art and youth exchanges – the first several ideas for the future projects between Volgograd and Dijon
This week-end, the “Marathon on the Volga” Russian-French Summer School is having its closing ceremony on the platform of Volgograd State Pedagogical University, having gathered over 30 young specialists from France (including our sister-city Dijon) and their Russian colleagues.
An important part of the school’s agenda was to introduce
the event’s participants to Volgograd museums, galleries and universities – that
is, the most active participants of people’s diplomacy projects.
On August 24, French guests visited Pavel Serebriakov Volgograd Conservatory,
where they were met by the institution’s director, the leadership of the Tsaritsyn
Opera and the Ilya Mashkov Volgograd Museum of Fine Arts. The guests
were especially fascinated by the upcoming “Serebriakov Debuts” international
competition, the accomplishments of Volgograd Regional Children Symphonic
Orchestra and the collection of works by the XX century painters in the
Museum’s funds. As was concluded by the end of the meeting, its participants were
prepared to start working on joint projects even before the end of the
anti-pandemic measures.
On August 25, the French delegation arrived at Volgograd Regional Children
Art Gallery, where the exhibition “Everything I know about France.
Everything I know about Russia” dedicated to the Russian-French Year of
Interregional Cooperation. Taking into account that many foreign guests are working
with children, and the City of Dijon itself has even a Children Council, we
have all reasons to expect the young French artists to join in the Gallery’s
future projects.
