The VSSPU Center for People's Diplomacy organized a lecture for Chinese students about the Battle of Stalingrad

Volgograd State Social and Pedagogical University (VSSPU) hosted a meeting with international students from China as part of Russian History Week. The event, timed to coincide with Heroes of the Motherland Day, was organized by the VSSPU Center for People's Diplomacy in collaboration with the Confucius Institute and with the support of the city administration.

The keynote speaker was Margarita Belitskaya, head of the VSSPU Center for People's Diplomacy, and translation into Chinese was provided by Yulia Shvedova, a student and activist at the VSSPU Confucius Institute. Representatives of the International and regional relations directorate of Volgograd Mayor's Office prepared a welcoming address for the guests, emphasizing that historical memory unites the past, present, and future, and the vital importance of preserving the truth about the heroic deeds of our ancestors.

The interactive lecture focused on the significance of the Battle of Stalingrad and its heroes. The audience learned about symbols of courage and fortitude: Mamayev Kurgan, Pavlov's House, and the fates of the city's defenders—from the legendary sniper Vasily Zaitsev to heroic pilots.

The event served as a reminder of the shared history of our countries fighting against Nazism in World War 2. It took place in the year of the 80th anniversary of Victory Day as a continuation of events dedicated to preserving historical memory internationally.
