The jury awarded Volgograd an honorary diploma for "Investment attraction".

Under the terms of the competition, its participants are asked to share with the jury their achievements in the areas of city management, sustainable development, economic development, security provision and other areas that local governments are responsible for.

Volgograd presented its successful practice in the area of "Municipal economic policy" by describing how it attracted investments for the construction of the recreational park called "Sanatorny".

The result of this project will cover the overall area of more than 30 hectares in the Kirovsky district of Volgograd – a previously untouched zone with difficult mountainous terrain and (previously) virtually non-existent transport connection to the rest of the city.

The first stage of the agreement has already been realized: now the previously barren territory can boast the "Aquatoria" amusement park with water slides and swimming pools.

After its completion, not only will the investment project provide the city with a new recreational area (and an influx of taxes to the budget), but will also create more than 500 jobs.
