Volgograd and Qujing discussed cooperation in tourism and sports
On December 22, the Center of Public Diplomacy at Volgograd State Social and Pedagogical University (VSSPU) hosted a videoconference between the sister-cities of Volgograd and Qujing. The event was dedicated to the potential of their twinning relations in such areas as sports and tourism.
From the Volgograd side, the event was attended by Deputy Mayor Ms. Anna Kuvychko, representatives of the city administration's committees for physical culture and sports, youth policy and tourism, as well as the Vice-Rector of VGSPU Sergey Glazov.
Anna Kuvychko noted that, when it comes to sports and tourism, Volgograd has a prominent potential which may be of interest to the Chinese partners: "Our city is the forge of Russian Olympic champions, as well as one of the popular tourist destinations. The memory of the Battle of Stalingrad is carefully preserved in today's Volgograd. The history of the battle traditionally attracts great interest among the Chinese tourists."
In his turn, the Deputy Mayor of Qujing Mr. Changsong He emphasized that Volgograd and Qujing had already accumulated a significant cooperation experience in the field of culture and education, and suggested inviting schoolchildren from both cities to participate in sports projects. He also expressed readiness to develop economic cooperation and introduce Volgograd to the potential investors from China.
It should be noted that this year in the beginning of November, university professionals from Qujing took part in one of the round tables of the "Dialogue on the Volga" International Forum. This event marked the beginning of the cooperation between Qujing Normal University and Volgograd State Social and Pedagogical University. As a result, the universities signed a Memorandum on Cooperation, and during the December videoconference, their representatives made a presentation of the opportunities of educational institutions in the field of sports and education, and also delivered their first suggestions for organizing the future exchanges.
