Volgograd and Chengdu students spoke about outstanding stage productions and theaters in their cities

On October 28, the "Magic of Performing Arts" project by Volgograd and Chengdu (Sichuan Province, China) culminated in a videoconference designed to demonstrate the charm of our countries' performing arts, strengthen the cooperation between our cities and expand international educational ties.

The event was held at the Volgograd State Socio-Pedagogical University (VGSPU), which is a recognized center for training Chinese language teachers. The videoconference participants were welcomed by the VGSPU vice-rector for educational work and youth policy Alexei Vedeneev.

The main participants of the project were Pavel Serebryakov Volgograd Conservatory and Sichuan Conservatory of Music. Their students prepared 12 PPT presentations, all of which were captivatingly and colorfully presenting the Chinese and Russian theater culture: operas, plays and musicals based on the literary classics and folk legends.

The opening speeches were delivered by Mr. Ou Yusong, Deputy Head of the Foreign Affairs Office of Chengdu Municipal People's Government, Sergey Ushakov, Deputy Head of the International and Regional Relations Directorate of the Volgograd Mayor's Office, and, of course, representatives of the main project participants: Vice-Rectors of the Conservatories Ms. Elena Gushchina and Ms. Wang Yan.

The videoconference participants also prepared some wonderful creative performances. From Pavel Serebryakov Volgograd Conservatory, vocalists Diana Helemendik and Andrey Zolotukhin performed on stage. The Sichuan Conservatory students demonstrated brilliant playing on traditional Chinese musical instruments.

The project has become another significant joint initiative between the twin-cities of Volgograd and Chengdu, which have been cooperating since 2011.

We hope that the videoconference will also pave the way for a fruitful and diversified partnership between Pavel Serebryakov Volgograd Conservatory and Sichuan Conservatory of Music.
