MATRYOSHKA, THE RUSSIAN DOLL

Hello, my name is Polina! Today, I want to tell you about a Russian Doll. Look! I have two matryoshkas in my hands.

Matryoshka is…

- a Russian souvenir,

- a toy,

- a symbol.

This Russian Doll has a long history. The first matryoshka was made in the "Children Education" workshop in 1809.

We can only do two things with Russian Dolls: nest into one another & line up.

A long time ago, "Matryona" was a very popular name in Russia. This name is associated with a mother and a big family.

Matryoshka typically has a white face, big eyes, red lips and a beautiful dress.
