Bishop of Coventry spoke against the suspension of sister-city ties with Volgograd
The Right Reverend Dr. Christopher Cocksworth, a Bishop of Coventry and the Head of the respective Diocese, urged his compatriots to continue relations with Volgograd and their Russian friends.
He made his statement in an interview with the BBC West Midlands online portal immediately after the Coventry City of Culture Trust decided to postpone the publication of the Volgograd-Coventry Digital Tablecloth "80 Years of Mutual Support", saying it felt like "the right course of action for now".
"I don't think it should end the twinning arrangement, but I think we need to use that twinning relationship", emphasized the Bishop of Coventry in response to the question whether Coventry should suspend its relations with Volgograd due to the situation in the Ukraine.
Further in his comment, Dr. Cocksworth expressed sympathy for both the people of the Ukraine, and the Russian soldiers and their families.
