Same or Different: contemporary art in the life of young people (author – Daria Bibikova)

Here goes our second publication dedicated to the online project "Same or Different: Topical Social and Cultural Problems of Youth in Russia and Germany", which is aimed at supporting the student exchanges between Volgograd and Cologne.

Today we offer to your attention the video presentation about Contemporary Art, prepared by Daria Bibikova, a student of the State and Municipal Administration Department at Volgograd Institute of Management (RANEPA branch). You can watch the video at the following link: https://youtu.be/eulcHFJ57DI

We invited the author to answer a few additional questions about the topic she had chosen.

Why did you decide to participate in the project?

Daria Bibikova:

"I developed an interest for studying the development of contemporary art in my native region, and so, wanted to tell the Russian-German youth about how different art can be, and that Volgograd, too, has a lot of interesting projects and venues where you can show your artwork together with the other creative people."

Judging by the video, you are well versed in the life of Volgograd art community. What are your most favorite creative spaces in our city (galleries, creative spaces, etc.)?

Daria Bibikova:

"What I like most is the creative space of 'LOFT1890'. There, they host a lot of interesting events – they invite speakers who discuss various topics, invite performers and music bands, organize exhibitions and garage sales."

In your opinion, how have the fine arts been evolving due to digitalization, especially nowadays, when photography and graphic editors are at such a high development stage?

Daria Bibikova:

"In the age of information technology, computers are becoming very graphic-oriented, because computer graphic is used everywhere. You can use photography to capture the moments filled with real emotions, and you can use graphic editors to show the smallest details of the things they depicted."
