The Year of Sport Cooperation between Russia and China – ready, steady, go!
On January 25, 2022, our Chinese sister-city of Chengdu initiated a videoconference between its Russian partners. One of the occasion for it was the soon-to-be-started Russian-Chinese Year of Cooperation in the Area of Physical Culture, which will be launched already in February, after the Chinese capital hosts the XXIV Winter Olympic Games.
The event was chaired by Ou Yusong – Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Chengdu Municipal People's Government, and attended by international relations officers from Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Volgograd, Kazan, Sochi and Ekaterinburg.
The speakers discussed their cities' plans for the organization of international events in 2022-2023 and the perspectives for the further development of Russian-Chinese intercity relations.
For example, Kazan will soon host the Special Olympics World Winter Games, Ekaterinburg – the Summer Student Games, and Volgograd, already in 2022, is ready to invite its Russian and Chinese partners to take part in the International Forum of People's Diplomacy and the International Youth Conference for Peace in the Future, be it offline or online .
Following the video meeting, its participant resolved to hold such events annually in the end of the year, in order to save the date for the most important international events in their respective action plans.
