Peace Messenger Cities will meet at the 2021 International Forum of People’s Diplomacy in Volgograd
On August 20, Volgograd’s online platform hosted a meeting of the Executive Bureau of the International Assosiation of Peace Messenger Cities (IAPMC). It united the representatives of 7 cities: Slovenj Gradec (Slovenia), Volgograd, Sarajevo (Bosnia & Herzegovina), Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Zurrieq (Malta), Płońsk (Poland) and Kragujevac (Serbia).
The participating cities listened to the Deputy Secretary General’s financial report
and presented the projects and initiatives which they had organized during the
pandemic.
The main question to be resolved was the format and the upcoming General
Assembly. Two delegates spoke in favor of holding it online, whereas three others
suggested putting the event off until the last restrictions are over. The in-between
option, which seemed to have appeased everyone, was suggested by Slovenj Gradec.
The program of the International Forum of People’s Diplomacy “Dialogue on the
Volga: Peace and Mutual Understanding in the XXI century” in 2021 features a
panel discussion between the IAPMC members, and the Association’s Secretary
General suggested to discuss the organizational questions within the frame of
Volgograd Forum.
Representatives of the cities declared Peace Messengers by the United Nations
Organization will meet on Volgograd’s platform once again on October 31.
Let us be reminded that in 2018, the IAPMC General Assembly has already been
held in Volgograd – at that time, in the real life format.
