Chronicles of the International Youth Conference for Peace in the Future 2021 – History Day

On August 4, the IYCPF 2021 had its second general meeting. The event's attendees had on their agenda to introduce their teams, meet an expert on history from the panorama museum and start preparations for a Peace Memorial Ceremony.

The day before that, IYCPF participants split into 5 teams, each of which came up with a logo, a motto, and an agenda for the event. In the end of the conference, they will all be given a special task: to plan a flash mob dedicated to peace promotion!

The main part of the meeting was a presentation about the history and international significance of the Battle of Stalingrad, delivered by Sergey Ivanyuk, Deputy Director of the "Stalingrad Battle" panorama museum, visited by over 2 million people each year.

- Why is it important to study history to preserve peace?

- How do cities preserve their history?

- Why is participation in the IYCPF important for my city?

These were the questions offered for the participants' discussions.

On August 6, Hiroshima will be commemorating an important and terrible date in its history – 76 years since the atomic bombing. Many of its friendship cities, Volgograd included, will organize Peace Memorial Ceremonies to show their solidarity. IYCPF participants have been invited to join – either attend a peace ceremony in their city, or organize an event similar in spirit by themselves. Volgograd, as we remember, is holding its Peace Memorial Ceremony at 8:00 am in the "Stalingrad Battle" panorama museum

How will our participants spend this day? We will learn it on August 7.
