A video guide through the best landmarks of Volgograd by the four students of the VIM – RANEPA branch

In the follow-up to the "Nostalgia Project", meet a collaboration group of four students from the Volgograd Institute of Management – RANEPA branch: Elvira Mamedova, Susanna Safaryan, Polina Petrova, and Yulia Selivanova.

Elvira is currently combining studying for her second with a full-time job, but still managing to find the time to pursue her artistic hobbies – photography and singing lessons.

Susanna is studying Economic Security, and ranks drawing the first among her interests.

Polina is an active participant of international schools and tiny gathering of amateur musicians, who studies the art of coffee making in her spare time.

Her colleague by the Economics major, Yulia, jokingly calls herself a jack-of-all-trades: her hobbies include travelling, dancing, sewing, and cooking.

Their joint video is meant to show Volgograd the way its local residents rather than tourists see it. In it, you will see both the popular landmarks and the little-known places.

What reasoning would you use to persuade your foreign friends to visit Volgograd?

Elvira Mamedova: To me, each city has its own inherent value, but Volgograd takes up a special place in my heart.

Polina Petrova: First of all, the Volga is one of the longest rivers on the planet. Secondly, Volgograd is one of the most important places in the Russian history. And thirdly, our city's climate is very versatile: here, one can actively spend their time both in winter (amidst the plenty of snow), and in summer (под солнцем на пляже).

Yulia Selivanova: Our city is worth visiting because it has such a rich history, beautiful architecture, peculiar nature and many places where you can have a nice time, alone or together with friends.

Susanna Safaryan: I think it best to visit our city in spring, when the trees and the grass go green. Moreover, the legendary Mamay Hill looks especially spectacular in May.

If you had one day to yourself in a completely unknown city, where would you go or what would you do first?

Elvira Mamedova: For that case, I would already have a plan with a list of landmarks, leisure and art spaces, as well as unusual streets. And then – I would simply enjoy myself and make photos.

Susanna Safaryan: I would definitely go to a local park and for a walk in general – I would surely be walking on foot as often as possible.

Polina Petrova: As a lover of nature, I would go to the city's parks, first and foremost. After that, I would attend to my sweet tooth and taste the local desserts or local cuisine in general.

Yulia Selivanova: First of all, I would go to an observation platform, because all cities are strikingly beautiful from above. Apart from that, I would visit a museum dedicated to the history of this city or this country.
