Russian Scientific and Cultural Center in Chennai

According to the Indian political hierarchy, a Mayor of a Russian city does not quite correspond to a Mayor of an Indian city, which sometimes makes it rather difficult to build relationships at the municipal level.

Therefore, the Russian Scientific and Cultural Center, which has now been renamed as the "Russian House" for short, helped Volgograd to intensify its cooperation with Chennai!

The Russian House in Chennai is one of the centers of the Rossotrudnichestvo federal agency operating under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. It is located within the city's borders and, like all its fellow institutions, is working to promote the Russian language, science and culture, as well as their development through international cooperation.

In 2011, the Secretary General of the Indian-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the RSCC in Chennai visited Volgograd. It was with his assistance that, already in April 2013, three delegates representing the Indo-Russian Women's Association of Chennai took part in the "Dialogue without Borders" International Gender Forum.

Among them was Mrs. Janaki Krishnan, President of the Women's Association and Head of the Russian Language Center in Chennai, author of several textbooks for its learners, who later participated in several video conferences with the Indian students of Volgograd State Medical University.

Also, thanks to the organizational support of the RSCC, several Volgograd creative teams from the "Volgogradconcert" performed in Chennai for two years in a row, all while gathering full concert halls and a full central square in the neighboring city.
