Ostrava Russian House
The "Ostrava Russian House" public association works in many various fields simultaneously, continuously helping their compatriots to get used to the new life, feel themselves a part of a friendly community and remember their historical homeland.
Its activists:
- hold lectures dedicated to the famous citizens of Ostrava and Volgograd;
- organize celebrations of the New Year (and a Christmas tree festival for children), Day of the Defender of the Fatherland, International Women's Day ...
- record online and offline concerts in honor of the Russian Unity Day,
- participate in the celebratory evenings dedicated to the Victory in the Battle of Stalingrad and the lifting of the siege of Leningrad,
- conduct weekly Russian language lessons for children from mixed families, participate in the organization of Pushkin competitions and Russian language competitions among schoolchildren,
- take care of the graves of the fallen Soviet soldiers,
- celebrate the liberation of Ostrava from the Nazis and the Victory Day, organize the Immortal Regiment processions.
The Ostrava Russian House has many friends in the Czech Republic and beyond.
Their events unite teachers, artists, athletes and simply like-minded people – including the residents of Poland and Russia. Another one of their partners is the Honorary Consulate of the Russian Federation in Ostrava – when a shooting competition named after the hero of the Battle of Stalingrad Vasily Zaitsev takes place in February, it is the Ostrava Russian House that organizes on this occasion annual lectures by the natives of Volgograd who remember the times in question.
They are also close friends with the "Czech-Russian Society" regional association: the chairman of the Ostrava Russian House, Tamara Galynina, and the head of the Czech-Russian Society, Karel Shestak, had been happily married for many years.
Now the chairman of the ORD is Ms. Anna Stukhlikova, and in 2021 she was personally delegated by the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots in the Czech Republic to the VII World Congress of Russian Compatriots in Moscow.
