“Let our cities be friends” (Davayte druzhit gorodami)

If only this book could still be found in bookshops, we would have already launched a campaign to buy every last one copy to support Volgograd authors. And then, probably, would have closed the public – any interesting details about Volgograd's sister-cities would have been covered anyway…

In structure, it is a collection of independent articles, where each and single work is dedicated to one of the cities connected to Volgograd with the relations of friendship and cooperation. And, as we live and breathe, these articles are incredibly interesting to read.

Moreover, judging by the texts, they had been equally interesting to write. A person with no interest in their task would have never been so glad that for mere 5 pages of text, she managed to find and study "over 20 books, brochures and articles about Coventry".

Of course, each author has its own area of interest: the most sociable ones write about traditional celebrations in Chemnitz, more romantically inclined – about the thin layer of frost on the trees in Jilin, admirers of adventurous fiction – about the planned robbery aimed at the coat of arms of Liege… Yet, whichever article we choose, the sharpness of youthful mind is always combined with the deep insight into the chosen topic.

The reason is that this book was jointly prepared by the members of the International Friendship Club of Volgograd, and the only person to speak about the history of our city with more involvement and enthusiasm is Roman Shkoda. And so, if you want to learn without Tsaritsyn times, the go-to person is Mr. Shkoda, and if you are interested in Volgograd's sister-cities – welcome to the libraries still in possession of "Let our cities be friends" (Davayte druzhit gorodami).

And quite recently, the International Friendship Club addressed us in the search for inspiration concerning the new sister-cities, which appeared already after the book was published… Which allows us to meekly hope for a new and extended edition.
