Qujing is the second largest city in Yunnan province (China) with rich natural resources, and powerful industrial sector, which includes nonferrous metal industry, tobacco industry, and even sericulture (silkworm breeding and mulberry growing).

Apart from that, Qujing is an important touristic center with beautiful nature. Most tellingly, its main attractions are, among others, the Nine Dragons Waterfall, the Source of the Pearl River and mountain regions – that generally take up over 90% of the Yunnan province.

In 2019, Qujing won the title of "National Civilized City", which is a comprehensive honorary title reflecting the overall civilization level of Chinese cities.

Qujing school students and art groups are recurring and enthusiastic participants of cultural exchanges with the city of Volgograd.
