History

Twin-cities

Yerevan is the capital and the largest city of Armenia, famous for its long and eventful history. Several times it has fallen victim to devastating and destructing catastrophes, and yet always would come back to life.

The city’s rich past and glorious present are best illustrated by the Erebuni Fortress – a 2,800 years old symbol of the Armenian State, – and the “Mother Armenia” monument crowning the “Cascade” architectural complex and visible from absolutely any point within the city.

The agreement on cooperation between Volgograd and Yerevan was signed back in 1998, but the cities would not become “official” twins until 2015.
