Twin-cities

Volgograd and Płońsk became twins in 2008.

The two cities were brought together by the tragedy dating back to World War 2: Płońsk, where the Polish and Jewish diasporas had been making up equal parts of population ever since the 12th century, lost almost a half of its residents in the Nazi-led repressions.

Since the moment of its foundation, Volgograd and Płońsk have been members of the International Association of Peace Messenger Cities, and taken an active part in all its initiatives.

Płońsk annually holds a Brass Band Festival Parade, where Volgograd jazz bands have repeatedly performed and enjoyed success, and also an Indoor Football Championship, which is well-loved by Volgograd sport amateurs.
