Volgodonsk is a city in the Rostov Region of Russia, founded in 1950 during the construction of the Volga-Don Navigation Canal.
Today’s Volgodonsk is a major center of science and industry in the South of Russia, with a wide and versatile potential which includes power industry, machine-building, chemical and wood-processing industry. Through the water arteriae, the city is connected to five seas and, thus, has a strategic importance for international trade.
The partnership between Volgograd and Volgodonsk was officially established in 1998 with the signing of the Agreement on Cooperation.
There is a street in Volgograd called Volgodonskaya (in the Central district).
