Malgobek is a city of republican significance in the Republic of Ingushetia of the Russian Federation.

Founded in 1933 following the discovery of the Malgobek oil field.

During the Malgobek Defensive Operation during the Great Patriotic War, Soviet troops defeated Nazi troops and foiled Hitler's plan to seize the oil fields of the Caucasus. For the courage, resilience and heroism demonstrated by the city's defenders during the Great Patriotic War of 1941 – 1945, Malgobek was officially designated a "City of Military Glory" in 2007.

Today's Malgobek is a city of continuous development and extensive construction, enjoying a number of fully operational businesses and newly added social and cultural facilities.

The partnership between Volgograd and Malgobek was officially established in 2020 with the signing of the Agreement on Cooperation.
