Dialogue on the Volga: organizers of the international forum discussed the event's program for 2021

Their plan is to develop inter-municipal cooperation with foreign partners through the common memory of the Great Patriotic War and the Battle of Stalingrad. Representatives of Rossotrudnichestvo Federal Agency pronounced themselves ready to assist in organizational matters – as pointed out at the meeting held by the Forum's organizing committee at the venue of the Economic policy and development committee of the Volgograd region.

Another idea for the next International Forum of People's Diplomacy "Dialogue on the Volga: Peace and Mutual Understanding in the XXI century" was to hold a number of events dedicated to the Cross Year of Interregional Cooperation between Russia and France, whereas in 2020, as we remember, the Forum was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The International Forum of People's Diplomacy 2020 differed significantly from how it was held in the previous years. Not only had the Forum been adapted to the pandemic challenges and restrictions – there were more platforms to it, that year, and more partners.

"First and foremost, the Forum's work lasted for 4 days, instead of 2. Secondly, it covered a very wide range of topical issues," noted the Committee's Chair Ms. Galina Bykadorova.

"It was the online format that made it possible to have among the event's speakers the Permanent Missions of the Russian Federation to the UN and UNESCO, prominent foreign and Russian experts, Mayors of a larger number of Volgograd's twin and partner-cities.

Within the Forum's framework in 2020, 3 panel discussions and 11 round tables were held, uniting about 250 experts from 20 countries including Italy, France, Belarus, Great Britain, Kazakhstan, Iran, Germany, Czech Republic, Israel, Japan and other states. The usage of modern digital technologies made it possible to expand the event's geography, the agenda of its meetings, and have about 10,000 people visit the Forum's website in 4 days. Even after the end of the Forum, the website's daily views would go up to 1,000 people, from Russia and abroad alike.

The event resulted in the adoption of a resolution aimed at the strengthening of peace and security; the development of all-round cooperation.

As for the Forum to be held in 2021, a proposal was made to create a permanent IT-platform for non-profit public organizations to exchange information and ideas on the development of international projects, hold creative laboratories for youth startups, and arrange business meetings among the different countries' communities. The discussion of the program of the next "Dialogue on the Volga" continues.
