A program about Volgograd will be shown in South Africa
Volgograd has welcomed another group of foreign guests: our city will soon be featured in a separate episode of the "Voetspore" travel project created by the South African documentary filmmaker Johan Badenhorst.
This May 9, its creator in chief embarked on a large-scale expedition across Russia with his son and filming crew. His program has been airing since 2000 and has introduced South Africans to more than 50 countries all over the world. The idea behind each video is to show the journey through the eyes of an ordinary tourist, traveling on foot, exploring key sights, stopping at local cafés, and spending a day in the rhythm of the city they're visiting.
The filming crew deliberately deviated far south from their original route from Murmansk to Magadan in order to visit Volgograd—a city that, according to Johan Badenhorst, most clearly embodies the resilience of the Russian people.
Guests made a tour of our city on May 21, exploring Mamayev Kurgan and the Alley of Heroes, from the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral all the way to the Volga and the lower terrace of the 62nd Army Embankment. The memorial to the Heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad in particular left a lasting impression on each guest, and Russia as a whole inspired a desire to return again—this time with family and friends.
