The second presentation is presented by Cheng Han from Yunnan College of Industrial and Information Technology. Flip through the slides and read the story – «The Source of the Pearl River: The Legend of the Pearl Fairy.»
Hello everyone! Let me introduce myself first. My name is Cheng Hang, from CNC Technology Class 2503. Today, I am very excited to tell you a beautiful myth from Qujing. It is the legend of the Pearl Fairy.
Do you know where the Pearl River starts? Look here. Qujing is honored as the first city of the Pearl River. The river's official source lies on Maoxing Mountain. This is where our story begins. Pretty amazing, right?
Now, let me ask you a question. Why do people in Qujing love water so much? This legend comes from a land of deep water reverence. For generations, local people have held ancient beliefs about the power of rivers and springs. This cultural background gave birth to the fairy tale. Can you feel the respect?
Now, let's get into the story. Imagine this. A long time ago, a severe drought parched the land. Crops withered, and the villagers suffered greatly. The earth itself cried out for water. What would you do if you were there? People prayed for a miracle.
Then, a miracle happened. The Pearl Fairy saw their suffering. She came down from heaven with her magic pearl hairpin. Gently, she touched the dry stone. Instantly, a clear spring gushed forth! That spring became the source of the great Pearl River. Isn't that a wonderful story?
So, does this legend still live on today? The answer is yes. Today, the legend lives on. Monuments stand in memory of the fairy. Every year, river festivals celebrate her kindness. Schools teach the story to young generations. The fairy's spirit is still alive in Qujing. I grew up with this story.
You know what? Our rivers tell different stories, but they all carry the same dream – peace and friendship. We are guardians of the water and weavers of peace. One Earth, one river, one family. Don't you agree?
Thank you so much for listening! Let our rivers flow forever, and may our friendship grow stronger. I'm Cheng Hang from CNC Technology Class 2503. See you next time!
