The opening ceremony of the 5th International Youth History School "Youth in the Dialogue of Cultures and Civilizations" at VSSPU on May 13 concluded with an open lecture on "The Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia in  Volgograd Region." The lecture was prepared by Zarina  Bagaeva, senior lecturer in the Department of Russian History and Historical and Local History Education at VSSPU.

Her lecture was particularly relevant during the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, as it explored how representatives of various nationalities coexisted, collaborated, built, and continue to build the present and future in the territories of Tsaritsyn, Stalingrad, and Volgograd at various stages of its history.

The lecturer emphasized that the idea of intercultural and interethnic cooperation was particularly evident during the Great Patriotic War. For example, the famous Pavlov House was defended by soldiers of nine, and according to modern data, even eleven different nationalities.

This unity lives on in Stalingrad today: every major event in Volgograd, without exception, is traditionally celebrated "by all as one."

We're publishing a selection of slides we captured during the ceremony!
