“ATTACHE” Magazine by Young Diplomats of Volgograd
A unique youth magazine "Attaché. A Guide for Aspiring International Relations Professionals" was presented at the "Dialogue on the Volga" International Forum in Volgograd in 2022. Its authors were the students of the School of International Relations and Diplomacy at Volgograd Children and Youth Center.
The idea for the magazine belonged entirely to the students. The young diplomats did everything themselves: decided upon the magazine's main idea, came up with the name and design featurettes. Potential content, too, was split in the sections that reflected their interests: the history of international relations, contemporary politics, and the cultural diversity of Russia and other countries.
"We wanted to create a platform for the young people to discuss important international issues in an accessible manner, using simple words and understandable language," the authors confessed during the presentation.
Already by 2023, this magazine won its editors a prize at an International Festival in Kazan. Incidentally, that year's issue of "Attaché" was a special edition: bilingual, in Russian and French, dedicated to Charles de Gaulle. When his grandson Pierre de Gaulle and his wife came to Volgograd to open a monument to the famous general's at the Battle of Stalingrad Panorama Museum, they were much impressed to receive a copy of this magazine as a gift.
Today, "Attaché" remains a unique phenomenon – a printed edition where all authors, editors, and designers are children and students.
Unfortunately, the magazine is published annually in very limited quantities. So, if you wish to read one yourself, it's better to contact the School of International Relations and Diplomacy of Volgograd Youth Center and ask for a copy there.
