Yet Qujing has taken responsibility as the river's guardian, implementing forest protection, wetland restoration, and pollution controls to protect the source. Looking ahead, Qujing envisions itself as an "Ecological Source City." Plans include expanding protected areas around Maxiong Mountain, building green corridors along the headwaters, and promoting sustainable farming. The goal: ensure the first drop of Pearl River water remains pure.

Culturally, Qujing aims to share the story of the Pearl River source with the world. The Pearl River Source Cultural Park and annual source pilgrimage festivals are being developed to attract visitors who care about history and nature.

The Pearl River connects Qujing to the delta's great cities — Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong. Protecting the source is not only local but national. Qujing is becoming a model for headwater conservation in China's ecological civilization strategy.

The Pearl River does not begin with a roar, but with a whisper — from the mountains of Qujing. By respecting its origin, we ensure that future generations will still see a mighty river flowing toward the sea.
